At the end of day 12, we were actually just inside Kochi City but not really in the city proper. The hut we (E and C and I) were hoping to stay at had actually been bulldozed a year earlier and was just an empty field now. We checked with the locals and were able to camp there anyway.
The morning, we got up and walked the highway for an hour or two before we found temple 30, just inside where Kochi City proper (people, businesses, homes) started. The route was a little backwards to the temple and we wound up going through the gate last, which you’re supposed to do first. However, the gate faced the city and was a good 100m down a small road from where the temple was.
