Day 45 – Goodbye Shikoku & Into Koyasan

[I must apologize… This is is a very late post since I’ve been back in Canada for a while now and I’ve had this post sitting in limbo since before that. I have only a few, if not less than that, posts about Shikoku left before i can say that’s all there is for here. However, with the show and tell coming up now, I thought I should finally get around to getting finalized on this trip here. ]

After closing the pilgrimage and the loop on a long day 43, I took day 44 as a rest day. I slept, tootled around Tokushima City and generally just readjusted back a bit. I don’t have many pics from day 44 so it’s getting glossed over here.

Day 45 was about slowly leaving Shikoku finally and going to Koyasan. Before and/or after it is generally accepted that you should report to Kukai in his eternal meditation here. Either for good travels or to report a successful trip. It’s also a very expensive place to get to and to stay at now so I took the most budget accommodations I could find and left the next day. A fellow henro who you see in the pics came and left the same day. I’m glad I didn’t do this but more on that in the next post.

As it was it was train, ferry, train, train, train, cable car, bus and then a walk to my capsule room for the night.
