Chichibu Day 1

My first day walking and it was all rain all day. It was still a wonderful (if damp) time.

I did the pilgrims usual round of 9 temples for the first day still. Thanks to this age of digital photography, there was a couple hundred photos from this day alone. Obviously, I won’t post all of them but here’s a highlight or two from each temple.

Temple 1

Two of the men who got me started at the stamp office were 4th and 5th generation monks. They found me an umbrella from the lost and found very quickly when they realized I still intended to walk today. It was very well appreciated.

Temple 2

This hall is lovely and we’ll maintained but uninhabited. They view was supposed to be lovely on a clear day.

Temple 5

Another well maintained and uninhabited temple. You get the temple stamp nearby but as I understand it, a lot of the neighbourhood people are the ones who  take the pride of taking care of this place.

Temple 8

This was actually my last stop for the day as I had done 9 earlier.

The pictured tree is over 500 years old.
