The night before Saba-Daishi Bangai temple, I discovered that I had a double-whammy at the ryokan. I had an infected blister by my left heel and then I cut between my toes on my right foot that overlapped an existing blister. Icky and thankfully no pics.

By the time I left the Bangai temple though, my feet were screaming in pain. Walking that day was out of the question. I was also falling behind pace with other foot problems and also had few good accommodation prospects if I walked slowly. My feet needed a break when I could not so I opted for buses and trains that day to help even things out. I could go forward but my feet wouldn’t be doing any massive distances.

It breaks my heart a little still though. I so wanted to walk all of this though I knew it might be questionable. It was also happening along the bit of coast line I most wanted to walk beside. I made my choice even though it saddens me.

The train doesn’t go all the way to the point though. You have to bus for that. I got off the bus at the huge statue of young Kobo-Daishi which was good because I was just meters away from the cave where he received his enlightenment too.

The cave Isn’t much to photograph though.

Okay, confession time: I have cheated a little on this trip already.
